"For 12 years, every two years, I have been organizing an extraordinary week. How does it happen ? Every two years, because it's a crazy effort to organize it. During this week there are workshops on disability with people with disabilities, with testimonies of celebrities .
For a week, all the attention is focused on the workshops with trisomics, with multiple disabilities, Luc Boland (Belgian director, dad of Lou - young blind), etc
. We also do a workshop with guide dogs for blind people. All students live this extraordinary week and know that in college, there are people with disabilities. It is an awareness to which the students are very receptive.
This week is my hobby. It's really important.
I have been present in several schools and the Federation Wallonia-Brussels, to talk about this week. I know that since other schools have decided to raise awareness of the world of disability starting from the extraordinary week.

Project description
Citizen Awareness Week to get in touch with different physical and mental disabilities through a number of activities.
Organization of the week
The 670 students of the 1st degree have the possibility of participating in 2 activities during the week. The pupils of the courses "Home help and Caregiver"familiar with the accompaniment of the persons in difficulties take charge of the welcoming actors and participants.
Educational objectives with awareness
- that the difference related to disability should not be considered as a barrier, an insurmountable limit,
-that behind the person living a disability there is a person with his own rights with his talents and wealth,
- as citizens each student has a role to play in this social connection,
-the disability situation is a concrete reality
Inclusive society is a horizon towards which all Europe is looking at.
A path to reach to finally implement what all countries have signed and ratified:
The United Nations International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2006.
The European framework is also very clear about inclusive education, of which the Salamanca Declaration of 1994 settled the principles.
Each country advances at its own pace by proposing more or less advanced education systems with respect to inclusion, the pace of its history, its population and the ambition of its politicians.
The Belgian education system separates schooling from regular establishments for valid children and specialized schools for children with disabilities (who are not always present in families' living areas).
The training content is built around 5 modules plus 1 teaching method built on reflexivity.
Focus groups composed of the seven partnership countries: Poland, Portugal, Greece, Romania, Belgium, Italy and France have developed a training program.
• 1: Legislative (Spirit of laws / 'Europe and United Nations): Poland PSONI - France APAJH / Cahors Lot
• 2: Effect of impairments on the psycho-emotional development of the child: Greece Kamatero ATHENS - Portugal AEJD - Omnes pro Uno Faro
• 3: Teamwork, transdisciplinarity: Belgium Gembloux College - Romania Elena Doamna Foscani
• 4: The praxeological approach: Empathy, France IFRASS Toulouse - Ecole Jean Calvet Cahors
• 5: The report to pedagogical knowledge: Italy IC Montechiarugolo Parma - APAJH / Lot Cahors
This training is part of the paradigm of the inclusive school and intends to propose innovative solutions.
It is aimed at teachers on the job and carers, by caregivers we mean anyone working with the child in school situation including parents.
Training through its pedagogy should put in situation teachers or caregivers in conditions of empathy and reflexivity.
